On board an hour flight, more or less, to Davao City, we have finally set foot to the Philippine's biggest city down South.
For most Filipinos, Davao is mostly associated with Durian. This delicious fruit disguised in a very unpleasant smell for some, has captured the appetite of Dabawenyos.
Getting there
By air
The most convenient way of going to Davao City is by plane. Direct flights to Davao City can be booked from the capital city of the Philippines, Manila (Ninoy Aquino International Airport, NAIA). Three of the popular airlines serving these routes include Philippine Airlines (the flag carrier of the Philippines) , Cebu Pacific, and Air Asia Zest.

Boats plying to Davao are also available. Though very few people take this means considering the time spent at sea while traveling since Davao City is located in the very south of Mindanao.
For passengers leaving from Cebu City though, one can take the boat from Cebu City and arrive at the ports of Butuan City, Cagayan de Oro City, or Plaridel.
From these ports, you can take long bus rides going to Davao City (minimum of 8 hours overland travel).
